About this Event
The field of Medical Family Therapy (MedFT) was developed to fill the gap between biological and psychosocial healthcare. It uses the biopsychosocial spiritual (BPSS) framework and systems theory to treat clients struggling with emotional and relational challenges. Learn more about this field at our next virtual session from the California School of Professional Psychology lecture series on January 24, 2022.
Dr. Afarin Rajaei will introduce what medical family therapy is, and highlight its goals, focuses, and applications. MedFT therapists recognize the importance of collaboration and communication between medicine and behavioral health, and use therapeutic, biopsychosocial, and spiritual approaches to treat the whole person. With the inclusion of MedFT training in MFT programs, it’s important for all medical professionals to be familiar with this field.
