About this Event
This presentation will review safe and effective treatment strategies for pharmacotherapy of active duty, guard, and reserve military members suffering from psychiatric illnesses. Each military service's medical standards (fitness) will be explained, and psychotropic drug use in the context of preserving military readiness and addressing day-to-day "duty impact" will be discussed, especially considering the current recruitment/retention crisis. Participants will understand which drug classes may disqualify patients for continued military service, and alternative management strategies for most conditions faced by this population will be explored.
At the conclusion of this talk, participants will feel more confident about serving members of the military and preserving their careers.
